In the late 1990s Tony Buonicore led a task group that developed ASTM E1929-98 Standard Practice for Assessment of Certification Programs for Environmental Professionals: Accreditation Criteria. Due to a lack of demand, this Standard was allowed to sunset in 2007. In 2009, a Task Group led by Dr. John Morelli and Lisa Greenwood (Rochester Institute of Technology) and Libby Ford (Nixon Peabody) was formed to revitalize this Standard. The Task Group leaders reached out to several accreditation entities including the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA), and the Institute for Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM). Based upon those discussions, changes were made to E1929 and the Task Group and this Subcommittee seeks to re-approve this Standard through a Subcommittee ballot, followed by a ballot of the Main Committee.
