Accidental puncture through medical gloves are common in surgery. They involve different types of sharps (suture and hollow-bore needles, scalpels, bone fragments,) that may lead to infections of medical personnel by many possible pathogens (viruses, bacteria), mainly blood-borne viruses. The main purpose of this standard test method is to assess various medical gloves, either standard or with antimicrobial, in case of a simulated accidental puncture involving a contaminated sharp.
