This Standard Guide represents descriptive informational materials on the potential individual components of the two ball field facilities. 1.2This Standard Guide refers to ball playing fields used for the sports of baseball and softball for non professional use. Where such ball fields are located they should include such optional components in the establishment of such facilities as well as review the interscholastic, intercollegiate and association rule books for playing field and appurtenances rules. Such rules, if not modifiable, would regulate the field layout and components unless not covered in the rule book. This Standard Guide can be used as guidelines for enhancing the safety and performance requirements of the use of the field for those engaged in the sports of softball and baseball. If the fields are for multiple uses, the components could become hazards to participants engaged in the other particular activities and sports and should be evaluated for their use. These activity respective facility component standards or criteria should be analyzed as not to provide conflicts between uses of such fields. 1.3This Standard Guide is not intended to provide construction or operation requirements. All users are to check with their local building agencies and comply with all local codes and regulations. 1.4This Standard Guide does not purport to address all of safety concerns that might be associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate construction and operation practices and procedures and determine the applicability of association and league regulation requirements that the operator and users might belong prior to use to insure consistency with their member requirements.
