1. Rationale

The viscometer in Section 5.4.2 is no longer available nor serviceable. The manufacturer, C. W. BRABENDER Instruments, Inc. has approached the subcommittee to accept completely re-designed and upgraded instrument, the Visco-Corder E model, as an approved testing instrument used in the method.
