1. Scope
1.1 This specification applies to the minimum installation requirements for nonmetallic plaster bases used with Portland-cement-based plaster. 1.2 When a fire-resistance rating is required for plastered assemblies and constructions, details of construction shall be in accordance with reports of fire tests of assemblies that have met the requirements of the fire rating imposed. 1.3 Units--The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as the standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Nonmetallic laths are gaining acceptance in the marketplace, and as with many products and systems, consensus standards would be beneficial to provide minimum installation requirements, assist specifiers, and so forth.
