1. Scope
This standard practice may be applied to determine color differences between the printed outputs of color laser beam printer all-in-one cartridges in printers without applied color profiles. This standard practice estimates unbiased color differences accounting for true color variation and printer-cartridge performance effects on color variation over time. Current ASTM standards determine spatial color difference without regard for printer or cartridge variation effects over time. The proposed standard practice estimates unbiased Delta E CIE76 adjusted for printer-cartridge performance effects on color variation over the cartridge life. Users are toner manufacturers, toner cartridge manufacturers and remanufacturers, and imaging supplies distributors.
