(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK26217 - Revision of D4048-02(2008) Standard Test Method for Detection of Copper Corrosion from Lubricating Grease

Active Standard: D4048-02(2008)

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.G0.01 | Committee D02 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

Add a terminology section with definitions for copper corrosion, grease and lubricant. A note regarding the ability of those with color blindness to practice this method was created and will be added as an editorial change. The instruction from the Apparatus section, 6.6.1, regarding the need to observe the copper strips in diffused daylight (or equivalent) will be added editorially to the Procedure section, 9.6.1. Changes that could be incorporated in the Interpretation section that would cover instances when a significant portion of the strip was different from the main body of the strip while not in an obvious transition state between two adjacent ratings.
