1. Rationale
1) Section 10.1.1 is being revised to require calibration checks of the pressure transducer calibration only as needed as indicated by failure of the performance check in 10.1 because of: a) The unnecessary nature of the pressure transducer calibration check at a defined interval due to the inclusion of required performance and quality control checks in Sections 11 and 12, which require calibration check if a performance or quality control check standard failure occurs. b) The safety concerns involved with using a McLeod Gauge with its large quantity of mercury-in-glass usage. c) The excessive down-time, cost and potential loss or damage to instruments during shipping if sent to the manufacturer for a calibration check when the calibration is verified daily as required in Sections 11 and 12. d) Instrument stability routinely exceeds the six month calibration check interval defined in 10.1.1.
