1. Rationale
Removal of reference to use of 1,1,1-trichloroethane as a cleaning solvent. Manufacture of this known ozone-depletor is now banned and there are health and safety issues associated with its use. I presented data at a D02.G0.04 subcommittee meeting some years ago to show that washing with this solvent (in addition to normal heptane) was unnecessary and the assembled group agreed. However, it has now been over 2 years - perhaps 3 years - and nothing has been revised.
