1. Rationale
The current Annex regarding using uranyl acetate to identify alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) in hardened concrete is mandatory information. Since uranyl acetate is toxic and harmful to the environment, the test should be limited. In addition, the test is not a petrographic method and is seldom used in the laboratory. Therefore, the uranyl acetate method should be a non-mandatory method. This ballot items changes the Annex ()Mandatory to Appendix (Non-Mandatory), and make necessary changes in the 7 places that mentioned Annex in the main body of the method. The involved texts are either changed accordingly, or deleted whenever it is deemed redundant.
