1. Scope

To help with a level one evaluation that shows sufficient evidence of black corrosion to copper and other metal elements found in some buildings and homes that is diffusing sulfur compounds from gypsum drywall. The task groups scope is to set a standard for proper inspection based on physical evidence and NDT to prove or disprove with a reasonalbe degree of accuracy for the existence of such drywall in homes or buildings The emergency standard is needed to help resolve a problem within the industry to properly identify what gypsum is considered corrosive or problematic based on gypsum that is known to be emitting gases and causing corrosion in homes located in thirty seven states. Standard will be used to help inspectors, local, state, and federal agencies with a phase one NDT standard for proper evaluation of gypsum that display these characteristics.
