1. Scope

This Guide is intended to establish procedures and methodologies for conducting inspections of building exterior wall systems to meet inspection criteria for compliance with ASTM E2270 Standard Practice for Periodic Inspection of Building Facades for Unsafe Conditions. For the purposes outlined in this Guide, unsafe conditions are hazards caused by or resulting from loss of faade materials. A wall is considered a system including its exterior and interior components, fenestration, structural components and components for maintaining the building interior environment. The guide sets forth tips and techniques to performing a facade inspection. It is intended to be used by facade inspectors.
