Work Item: ASTM WK25797 - New Test Method for Trace Metals in Aviation Turbine Fuel by ICP-AES

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.03 | Committee D02 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

This test method covers the determination of selected metals in aviation turbine fuel by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) The new ASTM Specification for green jet fuel, D7566, SPECIFICATION FOR AVIATION TURBINE FUELS CONTAINING SYNTHESIZED HYDROCARBONS (WK21761, in Society Review) lists UOP method 389 for trace metals analysis by ICP, because current metals analysis methods from ASTM either list fewer metals or have less sensitivity. Weve been asked to write an ASTM method similar to the UOP method, which uses wet-ash-ICP. This would eliminate the need for the UOP method in the Specification.
