1. Scope

1.1 This practice outlines ethical and educational requirements for a martial arts instructor. 1.2 This practice provides operating criteria requirements for a martial arts school. This includes but is not limited to minimum standards of care for safe martial arts instruction and practice within a martial arts instructional facility. 1.3 This practice outlines the facility requirements for a martial arts school. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. This practice is intended for use by instructors who operate or instruct in martial arts schools as well as the actual martial arts educational facility or location. The operating criteria provided in this practice will be used by martial arts instructors and school owners regardless of the martial art being practiced.
