1. Scope
The objective of the Task Group is to develop a standardized methodology for the collection and disclosure of energy use information associated with a building involved in a real estate transaction. The standardized methodology will enable all parties involved in the transaction, including the prospective purchaser and lender, to know and understand what was done for the collection and reporting of building energy use information. The information is expected to facilitate the progression of a prospective purchaser who eventually becomes the building owner to green building labeling or certification or even energy auditing through existing available mechanisms, should the decision be made by the property owner to pursue this path.
