1. Scope
1.1 This standard provides guidance and information on passive, i.e., no-purge, techniques for sampling ground water monitoring wells to be used for water quality studies. These techniques do not require purging the well prior to sample collection and do not use a pump during sample collection. 1.2 Other methods for sampling monitoring wells include low flow methods D 6771 and traditional well volume purging methods. Consult standards D 5903 and D6089 for planning and documenting sampling. Ground water samples my require preservation (D6517), filtration (D6564), and measures to pack and ship samples (D6911). Follow standard D 7069 to assure quality control and assurance of the sampling event.
