1. Rationale
Item 1 - Section A2.2.1 states insert the cushion pad with the pattern side facing the carpet followed by a nominal 6.3-mm (14-in.) thick fiber-cement board having a density of 1442 160 kg/m3(90 10 lb/ft3) and meeting the requirements of Specification C 1186 Grade II and Test Method E 136 (Note X2.1) and a 13-mm (12-in.) 0.58 g/cm3 (36 lb/ft3) inorganic millboard. For this ballot, the intention is to include the use of inorganic millboard in in the Procedure section of the standard. Item 2 - At the June meeting in Vancouver, Ken McIntosh of the Carpet and Rug Institute requested that Section 9.2.1 be revised to include a cushion recommended by the manufacturer. This would make testing over a cushion consistent with instructions for selecting an adhesive for glue-down applications (Section A2.2.2) The adhesive shall be that recommended by the carpet manufacturer.
