1. Rationale
Rationale for proposed changes in ASTM C-1315-03, paragraph 6.6 Adhesives As this section currently reads it assures the user that if the product that is being specified meets C-1315 the product will not reduce the bonding effectiveness of commonly used adhesives. This is too bold, and erroneous, of a statement to use. The proposed changes are not as definitive and, more importantly, bring the adhesive manufacturer into the approval process. The changes also reference ACI 302.2R-06, Guide for Concrete Slabs to Receive Moisture Sensitive Flooring Materials in order that the specifier / user have a more complete knowledge of potential problems of applying an adhesive over a curing membrane.
