(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK24110 - Revision of F833 - 08 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Carriages and Strollers

Active Standard: F833 - 13

Developed by Subcommittee: F15.17 | Committee F15 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

The F15.17 Subcommittee on Carriages/Strollers discussed and agreed to the following ballot item to require all attachment points of the car seat to the stroller to remain secure and not release during and after testing as a revision to section 6.7.1.1 of F833 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Carriages and Strollers. As currently written, a car seat could flip outside of the stroller frame and as long as one attachment point remained secured, the unit would pass this requirement. The new proposal would require all attachment points to remain secure and not release during and after testing. These attachment points are provided by the manufacturer to secure the car seat to the stroller, carriage, stroller/carriage, this revised requirement would require them to function as intended.
