1. Rationale
In October 2008, an update to D975 was published that permits up to 5% biodiesel meeting D6751-08 in D975 for both No. 1 and No. 2 grades in D975. A separate ballot is being forwarded this semester to modify the T90 value for blends of biodiesel and No. 1 diesel fuel oil, provided the No. 1 diesel fuel oil meets its T90 value prior to blending. As part of those deliberations, the Biodiesel Task Force recommended an informative note be added on the potential impacts on the cold flow properties of addition of biodiesel to No. 1 diesel fuel oils. Therefore, the attached ballot proposes to add this informative note. The Biodiesel Task Force recommended this be balloted separately from the proposed T90 change in order to facilitate the balloting process.
