1.1 This practice covers procedures for the inspection of the application of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) during the building construction of new non-residential buildings. 1.2The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parenthesis are for information purposes only. 1.3 The text of this practice references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as a requirement of this practice. 1.4 Where accepted by local authorities, Tthis practice does (not)shall cover the special iinspections that may be called for by Authorities Having Jurisdiction as referenced in Section 1704.14 of the International Building Code. 1.5This practice does not address forensics and/or investigations of problems after construction, nor does it deal with problems associated with other building envelope components. 1.6This practice may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This practice does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this practice to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Proper procedures for the initial installation of EIFS is known to be important in order to have the EIFS, and the adjacent wall system(s), perform well. This standard gives basic inspection steps that need to be followed.
