1. Scope

Develop Guidance Documents that will aide user groups in meeting their PPE needs and becoming compliant with regulations. The Guidance Documents will describe the following with the intent of minimal impact on costs and daily operations of an organization: 1.) basic steps to establishing a Respiratory Protection Program in order to become compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, 2.) methods for respirator and other PPE selection, use and maintenance based on the anticipated hazards of job assignments, 3.) and procedures to establish, organize and train PPE program administrators. The standard is needed to assist first responders and receivers in selecting and using appropriate combinations of PPE for the wide range of hazards that can be involved in terrorist attacks and other manmade or natural incidents.
