    1. Scope

This guide provides a resource for those designing waterproofing systems Considerations in the design of these systems are discussed. Schematic drawings of below grade construction identify conditions that typically necessitate preparation of detail drawings. Detail drawings are not included in this standard. This guide is not intended to replace the traditional roles and responsibilities of a buildings design and construction team or of waterproofing material manufacturers.

The design of suitable details for the installation of waterproofing system is an important part of achieving desired performance. Failures of waterproofing systems are often difficult and expensive to repair.
