1. Scope
1.1 This test method covers the determination of time of setting of concrete by means of monitoring the temperature change of a concrete specimen from a representative concrete mixture.
1.2 This test method is designed for use under controlled laboratory conditions, but may be used under some field conditions.
1. Current method, C403, requires screening mortar and monitoring hardening by penetration. It is cumbersome and time consuming.
2. The method will involve monitoring the temperature of a partially insulated portion of concrete by a datalogger and thermocouple.
3. Users will be admixture suppliers, testing agencies, etc.
