1. Scope
1.1.This Practice provides procedures that should be used by forensic examiners to conduct case reviews of examinations. 1.2.This Practice may not cover all aspects of case review for the topics covered or for unusual examinations. 1.3.The particular methods employed in a given case may be dictated by laboratory policy. 1.4.This Practice is not meant to imply that case reviews are required. 1.5.This Practice does not cover certain forms of verification, used in lieu of or in addition to case review, that utilize the methodologies of a full and complete forensic examination and result in independent conclusions. 1.6.This Practice does not replace knowledge, skill, ability, experience, education, or training and should be used in conjunction with professional judgment. 1.7.This Practice does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
