Work Item: ASTM WK22022 - New Test Method for Determination of elemental composition in masterbatches and compounds by X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

Developed by Subcommittee: D20.70.08 | Committee D20 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

This test methods covers the determination of the elemental composition in several types of polymeric masterbatches and compounds. Elements of interest are, but not limited to Chlorine, Phosphorous, Calcium, Iron, Lead, Cadmium, Bromine, Titanium and Sulfur. The matrials can include color masterbatches, universal masterbatches, black masterbatches, specialty masterbatches and several compounds theirof. The standards fulfills the need to quantify the amount of expensive functional addives and fillers in polymer masterbatches and compounds. User can now save costs by more exact dosage of the additives. The standard improves Quality Control. Analyzing the elemental composition of the masterbatches and compounds will proof authenticity of the materials. This is usefull for for compliant handeling.
