1. Rationale
Original recipe for rubber for test wheels is no longer able to produce consistent properties. Original sole source supplier is ceasing production. A new source is needed, as well as a possible new recipe and additional specification (tackiness test) in addition to hardness and specific gravity. The revised standard will address these issues.
