1. Scope

A handheld energy dispersive XRF method for the analysis of lead (in units of mass/area) in paint and other coatings on common toy substrates such as plastic, wood, steel, zinc, aluminum. The method will include screening procedure. This standard is needed to support the measurement of lead in paint anc coatings on childrens products as relevant to the CPSIA 2008.
