It is more informative to users of Terminology E 176 to contrast between effective heat of combustion and gross heat of combustion than to use the term “see”, which does not offer enough information. The date has been added for consistency with other E 176 terms. The item was approved for concurrent ballot by subcommittee chairman Marcelo Hirschler and by committee chairman Thomas Fritz at the meeting in June 2003.
