Work Item: ASTM WK21142 - New Practice for Determination of Re-Tack Ability in Carpet Adhesives

Developed by Subcommittee: D14.10 | Committee D14 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1.1 This practice will provide a protocol for determining the ability of a carpet adhesive to bond or re-bond carpet or similar, after installation, to a substrate after the adhesive has dried or allowed to remain open for extended periods of time. 1.2 The values stated in S.I. units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. The floor-covering industry will be the primary user. The method is necessary for performance evaluation of carpet adhsives and their ability to provide adequate bonding since dry to touch for extended periods, not truly pressure sensitive.
