1. Scope
Determine Standard Interface Protocol and Performance Requirements to control active vehicle barriers using Automated Access Control Systems or devices.
Interface control standard for vehicle barriers and access control systems does not presently exist. Many active vehicle barrier systems are being controlled using automated access control equipment, but there is a lack of defined control interface methods to ensure adequate and safe performance. Barrier systems have tended to be designed and constructed using dedicated controls, but increasingly are being controlled from external systems.
