1. Scope
This test specifies the preparation of laboratory prints of paste inks (offset and letterpress) using a motor driven printability tester, also referred to as a laboratory proofer. The use of a motor driven device rather than a manually operated print tester results in a print with uniform film thickness that is consistent each time and not affected by operator variability. The resultant print can be used for reflection based measurements such as colorimetry and reflection density, as well as testing a variety of other parameters.
Is needed to produce standardized lab prints for testing purposes. Will be used by ink manufacturers, ink industry raw material suppliers and printers.
