ASTM WK19509

New Practice for Installation of Flexible Sheet Water-Resistive Barriers Intended for Mechanical Attachment

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: E06.55 | Committee E06 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK19509

    1. Scope

1.1 This practice provides requirements for the installation of flexible sheet water-resistive barriers intended for mechanical attachment on homes and small buildings. 1.2 This practice does not include any installation requirements in which the material is intended to also provide the air barrier function. 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

Water-resistive barriers are now uniformly required by building codes and installation services for these materials are increasing. An industry standard will support the performance of these products.
