1. Scope
1.1 This specification establishes minimum characteristics to establish a surface as poured in place. etc.
The need for a systematic means of evaluating rubber poured-in-place surfaces for use as a playground protective surface from the standpoint of functional longevity and performance to impact attenuation requirements, durability, consistency of finish, and accessibility has become a growing concern of the designers/specifiers, owner/operators, and manufacturer/supplier/installers of poured-in-place surfaces. There have been no test methods, other than ASTM F1292, to assess these parameters of rubber poured-in-place surfaces to ensure quality. Therefore, the goal of this specification is to establish a uniform means to measure the characteristics for rubber poured-in-place surfaces to meet the needs of playground designers, operators and manufacturers.
