1. Scope
To develop a test method to measure the air performance characteristics of battery powered vacuum cleaners with due consideration to the activities of other committees.
Manufacturers typically employ power supplies for development and evaluations of air performance characteristics of battery powered vacuum cleaners because they can keep the applied voltage constant. The manufacturers are familiar with the construction, wiring, internal resistances of their batteries and other variables to accurately duplicate the battery performance using a power supply. Independent test facilities would like to have a test method for evaluating battery powered vacuum cleaners that does not require disassembly of the product and intimate knowledge of the battery characteristics.
