1. Rationale
Project X-94-37: Table 3 of ASTM D4000 lacks important tests such as mildew reisistance, ash content, tear strength, optical tests and multiple test procedures that are commonly used in the automotive industry. Adding a few procedures into this Suffix Symbols and Requirements Table will help the industry to more accurately specify materials, increasing the usefulness of all ASTM Classification Standards. This work item will also address the designation order number problem discovered on Suffix Table 1.
