Work Item: ASTM WK17454 - New Guide for In-Vivo Arterial Deformations and Cycles

Developed by Subcommittee: F04.30 | Committee F04 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1.1 This guide provides information on the geometry and deformation of healthy and pathological human arteries and veins in the course of normal activities and the number of cycles of those activities. This information is meant to help engineers of vascular devices design tests, set test levels, and choose the number of cycles in the tests. 1.2 The guide is a reference for researchers to improve on the measures of vascular geometry and deformation. This guide provides a framework for measurement in terms that have been found useful for engineering devices. Engineers at medical device companies, government reviwers of device submissions, and medical researchers on device-body interactions would benefit by having this standard for helping determine fatigue test conditions.
