1. Scope
1.1 This test method is an analytical procedure using optical microscopy for describing the loading of fungal structures. Samples are categorized as to whether they are consistent with having been lifted from a surface with natural background deposition or from a surface near a reservoir of fungal material or from a colonized surface. 1.2 This test method is qualitative for the reported fungal material loading. 1.3 This test method describes the preparation techniques for tape-lift matrices and the procedure for characterizing the loading of fungal material and the taxa of the fungal structures observed. NOTE 1--Samples not submitted on clear tape are not acceptable for analyses using this test method. 1.4 The fungal loading is reported as Categories 0-4 with this test method. 1.5 This test method only addresses the preparation and analysis of the sample. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
There is not an existing standard for this test method.
