1. Rationale

A number of laboratory audits by an Air BP auditor identified that wicks were been cleaned in cold solvent and not in an extractor. In addition there was confusion about what an extractor is. A soxhlet apparatus is well defined equipment which can be used for the continuous extraction of materials.
