1. Scope

This practice covers the extraction of lead (Pb) from a four-wipe composited wipe sample of settled dust using ultrasonication, heat and nitric acid. The extraction solution is diluted prior to spectrometric analysis. ASTM Standard required to support the use of composited wipe samples in lead hazard evaluation and clearance work in buildings. Users may be consultants, abatement firms, researchers, and regulators.
