(What is a Work Item?)

Work Item: ASTM WK15559 - New Guide for Guide for Construction of Sand-based Rootzones for Golf Putting Greens and Tees

Developed by Subcommittee: F08.64 | Committee F08 Home | Contact Staff Manager

Description Related Products
1. Scope

This guide covers techniques that are appropriate for the construction of high performance sand-based rootzones for golf greens and tees. This guide provides guidance for the selection of materials,
including soil, sand, gravel, peat, etc., for use in designing and constructing sand-based golf turf rootzones.
Few standards exist for putting green construction. USGA putting green specs have been in the industry and widely used. However, these specs only cover one specific method of green construction rather than being a guide to successfully develop sand-based golf turf construction by one of several design options. Further, this will be the first known spec which also includes construction guidance for golf tee surfaces.
