1. Rationale

Mr. Toy Pooles analysis of round robin test data obtained from CalTrans and MnDOT for ASTM C 156 provides improved precision of the method. The research report on which the statement is based is included in the ballot. Although C 156 does not use 24 hour retention data, some DOTs allow or require 24 hour results. Since the data was available, both 24 and 72 hour precisions are reported here. Action: Replace present section 16 with the following:
