(What is a Work Item?)

Work Item: ASTM WK15105 - New Guide for Guide for Design of Plastic Piping Systems for Low Pressure Oxygen and Enriched Air Services

Developed by Subcommittee: G04.02 | Committee G04 Home | Contact Staff Manager

Description Related Products
1. Scope

This guide applies to the design of plastic piping systems (including plastic lined hoses)for use in low pressure oxygen and enriched air services. The successful use of plastic materials in these services requires limiting ignition energies, as the plastic materials are typically flammable at the use conditions. This guide is applicable to services up to 30 psig (2 bar g) and 120F (50C). Plastic piping systems and hoses are currently used in a variety of oxygen applications including medical / healthcare, thermal cutting, water treating and aqua farming. However, there is no currently available guidance for selecting materials and designing piping systems. It is intended that system designers will use this document.
