Work Item: ASTM WK14355 - New Practice for Evaluating Hot Tire Pick-Up of Coatings applied to Concrete

Developed by Subcommittee: D01.47 | Committee D01 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

To evaluate the adhesion of coatings applied to concrete when subjected to heated tire sections. This practice is used to evaluate the adhesion of paints applied to concrete driveways that ha been heated and then subjected to a compressive force with a rubber tire to simulate the effect of a car sitting on an exposed coated driveway that has been heated by exposure to the sun. This standard is used by various manufacturers of traffic and driveway paints to evaluate the durability and adhesion of the coatings.
