1. Rationale
At the request of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, a revision is being concurrently balloted to F2208. The CPSC staff has concerns about the testing methods in Section 5.1 and believes that additional clarification regarding the intrusion test methods of the child simulator into the pool is needed. Current language (ŕ.dropped horizontallyŕ..dropped vertically) is subjective and can lead to varying results. Members of the F15.49 subcommittee working with the CPSC have made changes to Section 5.1 to make it more consistent by using better descriptive methods of testing.
