1. Scope
This Portable Document Format for Healthcare (PDF/H) Best Practices Guide describes a proposed, voluntary, industry-wide reference tool and guideline to describe the features and functionality of the Portable Document Format (PDF) for the healthcare industry. The guide is designed to describe and help facilitate a means by which information is captured, exchanged, preserved, and protected among consumers and the other participants within the healthcare system using PDF as the electronic container of the information.
