WK1376 Revision of A490-02 Standard Specification for Structural Bolts, Alloy Steel, Heat Treated, 150 ksi Minimum Tensile Strength

1. Rationale

Supplementary requirements in ASTM A325M permit the purchaser to specify a bolt that is threaded for the full length of the shank, when the bolt length is equal to or less than four times the nominal diameter. These provisions do not exist in A490 while there is a demand for it. These changes are proposed to reflect the need to align A490 with the provisions already existing in A325M Supplementary Requirements S1.
