WK1375 Revision of A490M-03 Standard Specification for High-Strength Steel Bolts, Classes 10.9 and 10.9.3, for Structural Steel Joints [Metric]

1. Rationale

Supplementary requirements in ASTM A325M permit the purchaser to specify a bolt that is threaded for the full length of the shank, when the bolt length is equal to or less than four times the nominal diameter. These provisions do not exist in A490M while there is a demand for it. These changes are proposed to reflect the need to align A490M with the provisions already existing in A325M Supplementary Requirements S1, and also to align this standard with A490.
