1. Rationale
Rationale: The mortar mixer used in C1107 does not appear to be commercially available any longer. Therefore a size (4-4 » cu ft) has been specified in this revision to replace the obsolete 3 cu ft mixer. The mortar mixer was specified as the referee mixing method since historically this was the only type of mixer allowed for performance testing of Non-shrink grouts. The use of the C305 mixer is allowed to be used for specification compliance testing thereby easing the financial burden for C1107 type grout testing and minimize waste material yet still allow continuity of existing historical data generated with the mortar mixer. Three other less extensive ballot items are also included in this work item. Each item has it's own rationale on the posting.
