1. Scope
This test method covers the laboratory measurement of the slip resistance of resilient floor coverings using a James Machine.
The James Machine has been the resilient floor covering industry standard test method for years and there is no current ASTM test method specific for resilient floor covering slip resistance. This will be used for ex-factory quality control, for assessment of slip resistant walkway surfaces by architects, specifiers, and others interested in the slip characteristics of resilient floor coverings.
